Notes for Mary Pomfrett
Church of England.
Parish Church of Newport Pagnell (Buckinghamshire), Newport Pagnell Burial Register:
Burials 1716:
"Mary ye wife of Mr. John Waller bur.(buried) May 14"
She would have died May 12-13.

A family tree compiled by a descendant says "She was born about 1648 at Newport Pagnall, Buckinghamshire, England and is said to be the daughter of William & Ann (KING) POMFRETT."
Some descendants claimed she emigrated to Virginia as a widow and probably lived with her son Col. John Waller and died Sep. 2, 1738, at his plantation "Newport" in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. No sources have been shown for the 1738 death date, but perhaps that was a daughter or granddaughter of Col. John Waller.
Some say John Waller's wife was a Mary Kay or Kee/Key Pomfrett or switch the Pomfrett and Kay around. Some researchers say she came to Virginia and died at a date later than 1716. Mary Kee Pomfrett is shown currently on the Family Search (LDS) site as having died in Virginia in 1735.

The Register of the Parish of Walton (near Bletchley), Buckinghamshire, 1598-1812, page 18 of book (19 of register page), Call number: 942.575 K29pr v,1: (Digital version online, Digital image 28/60):
1669. Mr John Waller and Mrs Mary Pomfret were married January 13th 1669.

The "Mrs" frequently included in transcriptions of the record is a title of respect rather than an indication of a previous marriage. A title of respect is used for each individual, "Mr" and "Mrs". Transcribers often omit both titles or include only the one for Mary Pomfrett.

Some family trees show her middle name or maiden name Key or show her as first marrying a Key or first marrying a Pomfrett. Apparently the name Key appears in a family tree compiled by an American descendant.

William Pomfrett is documented as the father of Mary Pomfrett Waller, wife of John Waller in an abstract of a 2 Oct 1669 Buckinghamshire, England mortgage transcription posted on Newport Pagnell Historian's website.

Also in William Pomfrett's will, dated 29 May 1666, proven 25 June 1667, Mary was unmarried and under 21, so born after 1645.
