Richard Arthur O'Leary known as "Buddy" was born in Meridian, Mississippi, December 10, 1905.  After his parent's deaths he came to live in Independence, Missouri with his sister, Ellen O'Leary Bundschu.  He attended high school in Independence and the University of Missouri at Columbia.  He married Mary Frances Hughes of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 20, 1939, where he first started in business.  He practiced interior decorating successfully under the name, "Pat O'Leary Associates, Inc." in the Kansas City area while living in Independence.
"Pat" and Mary have traveled widely in Europe and collected many beautiful objects of art.  upon retirement a few years ago they bought a cottage at John Knox Village, a retirement complex in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Retirement was not for them. They bought a delux tralier and spent their winters in Mexico and Texas and their summers roving the country.  They have three children.
Their son, Richard Hughes O'Leary, was graduated in architecture from Kansas State University at Manhattan, Kansas.  He served an apprenticeship in architecture in London, England.  He married Barbara Warrington on April 14, 1973 and at his father's retirement, he became the head of the family business.  They live in Independence, Missouri.
Daughter, Katherine Love O'Leary, attended the University of Kansas at Lawrence and married Edward William Hokanson, Jr. on September 11, 1965, after he received his masters degree in Business Administration.  They have four children, and live in Prarie Village, Kansas.
Daughter, Mary Frances O'Leary, graduated from the University of Kansas at Lawrence with a degree in Interior Design.  While there she met Leo P. Dreyer who graduated with a degree in Business Administration.  The couple married on August 17, 1968, while he was in the Navy.  Leo's Naval duty was aboard the ship "Sanctuary," taking the wounded from Vietnam battlefronts to Honolulu, Hawaii.  After his service ge graduated with a degree in Law from the University of Kansas and is now practicing law in Kansas City.  Mary is a designer at Pat O'Leary Associates, Inc.
