From the Abney Book by R.R. Abney: "Dannett Abney came to the British Colony of Virginia c. 1690. His wife is wrongly believed by some to have been a daughter of his step-father, Rev. Joseph Lee. Since there is no record of Rev. Lee siring a daughter by this name, the author believes she may have been a granddaughter. British genealogist Michael Yelland speculated that Joseph Lee, Jr. (son of the aforementioned Rev. Lee) may have sired Mary. However, the author contends that if there is a connection of Mary to the Lee family, it probably came through Rev. lee's son Nathaniel Lee. More study is required for this connection." He also has Mary with a sibling named Phillip.11
