Notes for Nancy Elizabeth Cupp
Nancy Elizabeth Cupp was the daughter of William Cupp and Mary (Wade?) Cupp. She was born August 7, 1813 in Gwinnett Co., Georgia. She married Samuel Norwood Maloney circa 1832 Gwinnett Co., Georgia. She moved with her husband Samuel to Hunt Co., Texas in 1857. They traveled by wagon with her husband's parents, William DeJernette Maloney and and Elizabeth Pickens Maloney , many of their children, close family friends, and Mamie Cloe who was a family slave that begged to go with the family to Commerce, Hunt Co., Texas.

Nancy was a devout Presbyterian and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Commerce, Texas.

Nancy died at the age of seventy-eight while visiting her daughter, Mrs. Sara Jackson September 27, 1891 in Ladonia, Fannin Co., Texas and is buried in the Ladonia Cemetery in Ladonia, Fannin Co., Texas.

After her death a memorial was erected in her memory at the church in the form of stained glass windows of the church's sanctuary. "A large stained glass memorial window was placed in the First Presbyterian Church, Commerce, Hunt Co.,Texas, when it was built, around the turn of the century. The texture of the stained glass probably could not be replaced today. The inscription "Maloney Memorial" appears in the center top panel. At the bottom of the three lower panels is inscribed, "Sacred is the Memory of - Nancy Elizabeth Maloney - Aug. 7, 1813 - Sept. 27, 1891." Five generations of Maloney's have attended this church."
