Mermis has invested in over 50 transactions in over 15 different industry sectors over the past 40 years. Sector investments have been in banking, insurance, manufacturing, foreign banking, shipbuilding, hotels commercial real estate, residential real estate, new town development, mineral processing, mining, municipal solid waste, pharmaceutical and foreign investments in the UK, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Brazil, Haiti and Israel.
Businesses owned and operated include:  Swift Ships, a manufacturer of PT Boats, US River Boats used in Viet Nam, and a manufacturer of boats used to service oil rigs for oil companies throughout the world, Lincoln Life & Casualty, Central Bank & Trust, Churchill Marine Bank & Trust.
In the early 1990’s Nomura Securities agreed to provide funding of $350+million ($650 million in today’s dollars) for the Mermis company to buy a group of cable companies from Time Warner. Time Warner a few months later took the cable companies off the market.
Five of the Mermis investments, sold in the 1980’s and 1990’s, now have a current approximate current market value of over $2 billion represented by market values of purchasing companies such as United Technologies, Gannett and AIG.
Mermis held a “Top Secret ” security clearance from 1975 to 1985.
In the late 2000’s, Mermis and a partner executed a Joint Venture Agreement with China Oil USA, Petro China’s U.S. subsidiary. Petro China is a part of the China National Oil Company.
In the early 1990’s Mermis was a Partner in a Buyout Group with four Directors of the Aetna ($90 Bil. In assets), which included former SEC Chairman Wm Donaldson.   The group engaged in packaging and negotiating acquisitions.

During the past 10+ years Mermis has concentrated on break-through fuel technologies. These technologies have had more than $10 million invested in their development. One Patented and Proprietary technology saves 20% to 30%+ of fuel cost consumption. The second Patented and Proprietary technology (in final development and roll-out) saves up to 90%+ of fuel cost consumption.
