Notes for Elizabeth Kendall
Elizabeth's father, Thomas, and her uncle, Francis, are said to have come to this country from the town of "Kendal," Westmoreland county, England. They appear in Charlestown, Massachusetts in 1640 and in Woburn in 1642, when they latter town was settled.
Thomas lived in Reading and became deacon of the church there.
Having no sons to bear his name the daughters each named their eldest sons "Kendall" for a Christian name; thus preserving the family name as far as possible. Unfortunately, both of Elizabeth's sons that she named Kendall passed away as children.
