Of Virginia parentage his father George Andrews moved to Kentucky where Mark L. Andrews was born. He married Eliza Dean of Maury County, TN and three years later joined the Methodist Church in which he was licensed to preach in September of 1822. In 1826 he was ordained elder by Bishop Roberts of Columbia, TN.11
