Special to The Leader. LOS ANGELES, CAL, March 27.- Rather than fight against poverty, Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Dale yesterday afternoon sought death together on a lonely hillside near Avenue Thirty-three and Griffin avenue. The husband is dead. Mrs. Dale is near death in a hospital.... Dale left a note which follows:
Dead Man's Note.
"Wire my father, E. O, Dale, Rushville, Ind., and my daughter, Mrs. Ethel Geraghty, Bayside, L. I. Also wire wife's sister, Mrs. Pearl Stafford, Frankfort, Ky. Answer all inquiries by letter, if at all. It is cheaper and, besides, there is no hurry. We will be a long time dead. "C. F. Dale."
NEWS AT FRANKFORT,
FRANKFORT, KY., March 27. - In a message received last midnight, James P. Stafford, of the Frankfort Fire Department, was notified of the suicide of Charles F. Dale, of Los Angeles, California, who killed himself after attempting the life of his wife, who was a half-sister of Mrs. Sarah Lanham, of Frankfort. The telegram received by Mr. Stafford gave no details other than to say that the husband was dead and the wife in a serious condition, Dale shot his wife, and then killed himself. Mrs. Dale was Miss Millie Grizzard, of Madison County, and is about 53 years of age. She had been living in California about eleven years. She was a half-sister of S. J. Lanham, of Texas, who is widely known in Frankfort, and a sister of Mrs. Fannie Karr, of Red House, Madison county.
