Notes for Sgt Robert Taft Jr
Revolutionary War Veteran and one of the original settlers of West Bloomfield. Purchased more than 10,000 acres in 1790. Built a log cabin which was replaced by a brick dwelling in 1801. His son, Chapin, added a 2 story cobblestone addition to the rear of the original brick dwelling about 1841. The Taft dwelling is still in existence and is one of the oldest in West Bloomfield.11
