He married Elizabeth BEST, 24 JUN 1616 Halifax, Yorkshire, England.
He was a direct descendant of MAGNA CHARTA surety, HUGH BIGOD, 3rd Earl of Norfolk .

WILL was proved May 6, 1600, Prerogative Court of York.
MARRIAGE: (1) Halifax, 10th July 1569, Elizabeth MAWDE/MAUDE, who is buried from Halifax Church 16th April 1588, dau. of John Mawde of the Clough Head, Northowram. (2) Halifax, 15th December 1589, Elizabeth LONGBOTHAM, who was living 15th July 1624. There were several men named Thomas Shaw in Halifax Parish at the same time, but, in land records and court actions, this Thomas is clearly described as the father of Abraham, and the husband of Elizabeth Mawd and Elizabeth Longbothom, plus he is clearly described as the son of Christopher of Northowram. ABRAHAM SHAW of Northowram (parish of Halifax, Eng.), to Watertown, MA.,1636, where his house burned in Oct, 1636; he then moved to Dedham, and was made a freeman, 9 Mar. 1636-37.
Thomas Lechford wrote in his Note-Book, page 329,Abraham Shawe, sometime of Halifax, County of Yorke, clothier, and late of Dedham in New England, made his will about Nov. 1638, and mentioned his eldest son, Shaw, his son-in-law, Nicholas Byram, his attorney, Mr. tt,57hf Halifax, his daughters Martha Shaw and Mary, his son John and all his children. (Register, 2: 180.) He married in Halifax, 24 June, 1616, Bridget BEST.(Ibid. 48).
