Thomas H Powers was born in Morgan or Bath county, Kentucky to Sanders Powers and Susan (Warner) Powers. He was the fourth of seven children born to Sanders & Susan. Thomas married Rosa Lee Byrd on Feb 2, 1888 in Menifee county, KY. Thomas and Rosa were parents of ten children. They were all born in KY except for the youngest, Thomas D Powers, who was born in Middletown, Butler Co., OH in 1910. Thomas D died at age 1-1/2 in 1912. Shortly afterwards Thomas and Rosa left Ohio, ultimately settling in Ross Township, Edgar Co., IL. They were only in Edgar county a short time when Thomas died leaving Rosa a large family with little means of support.11
