Sim(p)kin(s)*, born in Washington Co. Pa. to Parents John C. & Mary Harryman nee Brown married Nancy (Jane)* Proctor in 1815 in Madison Co. Ky. (Missouri Territory at the time)* by the hand of Nancy's father Benjamin Proctor Methodist Circuit Rider.
Together they raised 9 children Mahulda Susan, John B. Cordelia D. Hugh F. Almirinda M. James P. Andrew Jackson.
Nancy Jane, and Wesley Van Buren. He donated the land for the Methodist Church near his home and was an Election Judge in Benton Co. He died among his family and was laid to rest in the Family Farm Cemetery to await the return of his Lord and Savior.
* notes from junebyr1 13-Jun-2015:
"Please note that Simkin himself stated that he married Benjamin's daughter Nancy after he had removed to Missouri. So they did not marry in Kentucky. At the time they married it would have been the MIssouri Territory. His wife was Nancy Proctor. They had a daughter Nancy Jane Harryman which has caused confusion. There are no contemporary records that Nancy Proctor Harryman had a J or Jane as a middle initial or name. I would love to see evidence of his parents. I believe that John was his father. I just would like to know how we prove it. His name was not Simpkins. I have his signature in two places and it is spelled Simkin. If anyone is interested in this problem, please contact me via email."
