Notes for Anna Maria Ziegler
News And Notes Of North Topeka.
While Mrs. Jacob Haspert, of 536 East Gordon street, was standing in her back yard yesterday morning, she was struck in the wrist by a stray bullet. The bullet went thru the flesh of her wrist. No bones were broken. Officers Frazier and Hobson were notified by her husband, and started in search of an unknown tramp who, it was said, had been refused something to eat by Mrs. Haspert. The shot was fired by some one who was shooting on the dike near the Junction depot.
The officers found two boys who were fishing nearby, and took them to the office of the probate judge. They have their names as Alex Reeb and John Engre [Engraf]. No firearms were found on the boys, but the officers believe that they were connected with the shooting. The police have been hunting for another boy who was with Reeb and Engre, but no further arrest has been made.
