Notes for Warren Woodward Stiteler
Warren Woodward Stiteler was born June 19, 1857 in Pennsylvania. He was the son of Samuel Edward and Elizabeth Williams Stiteler. His father died fighting for the Union Cause in 1862 when Warren was about five years old. He and his two brothers, Samuel and John A., were then schooled at the Soldiers Orphans Boarding School in Tyrone township, Perry County, Pennsylvania.
In 1876, he was residing in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania with his mother. Warren W. Stiteler married Florence May Longsdorf on October 16, 1883 in Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
Their first two children, Glen Everett (1887-1958) and Alva Augustus (1890-1973) were born in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. While in Kansas, Warren worked as a coachmaker, clerk, wheelwright, and a groceryman.
By about 1893, the family had moved to Rockingham County, Virginia. Three more children were born in Virgina or Maryland: Flora Elizabeth (1893-); William Lloyd (1898-); and Ora F. (1899-).
In 1910, the family was in Central, Rockingham County, Virginia. Warren Woodward Stiteler died in December, 1917 in Rockingham County, Virginia.
