Elias Faubion, according to the Meredith legend, was the oldest son of Spencer and Frankie, and a wagoner who freighted supplies for the settlement to and from Baltimore (Maryland). It is told here that he was preparing for a freighting trip to Baltimore just before the youngest son of this family was due to be born, and when asked by his mother, he suggested the name Hezekiah. As this legend goes, it was on this trip Elias died of yellow fever at Baltimore, never seeing his young brother and it is told that William Meredith, who later married Elias' sister Nancy in Clay County, Missouri, took Elias' place in the freighting business. Pangle says Elias died in 1833, but Hezekiah was born in 1831. 339
