Notes for Gen Amos Hall
In 1786, was made a member of Order of Cincinnati
308Military Commander. Hall entered the military at the age of 15, as a fifer in his father's regiment during the Revolution. In 1790, he settled in Upstate New York, where he helped found the town of West Bloomfield. He took the first census of Western New York in 1790, served as a US deputy marshal, served in the state assembly, and was a state senator from 1809-1813. He rose to the rank of Maj. Gen. during the War of 1812, and was Commander In Chief of the Niagra frontier. Hall was the son of Capt. Stephen Hall and Abigail Sexton. He married Phoebe Coe in 1790 and was the father of 9 children.
