William A. Daniel. Born February 5, 1818, the son of
Coleman Daniel, at Louisville,
Kentucky. William was in business there for several years before moving to Hunter's Bottom,
Carroll County,
Kentucky, where he farmed for 19 years. In 1863 he returned to Louisville and in 1870 moved to
Madison,
Indiana. He married Mary Elizabeth
Cooper in Lexington,
Kentucky on August 27th, 1839.
He is survived by his children; Mrs. Ben G. Rodgers,
Coleman S. Daniel, Mrs. Henry T. Jefferson, Mrs. Maurice
Herbst, Miss Sarah Daniel, and Miss Helen Daniel. A daughter, the late Mrs. John K. Weyer [
Virginia Wickliff Daniel, d. 26 May 1885], preceded him in death.
His death occurred at 8:45 o'clock this morning at the family residence on West Main Street. Mr. Daniel was well known for giving rides on his sailboat to poor children, and for paying the streetcar fares for poor workers.
