He came to America about 1635 as he was made a freeman in Boston in that year. He soon removed to Wethersfield, Conn, where he bought 4 acres of land and built a house. He lived there four years then moved to Greenwich, Conn., having bought land there from the Indian, Keofferam, before July, 1640. Jeffery is supposed to have been born in Leicestershire, England about 1610. He died in Greenwich May 31, 1666. The name of his first wife is not known. She was the mother of all his children and died May 31, 1658. He married second in Stamford, Conn, 1659, Susannah, widow of Robert Lockwood. She died Dec. 23, 1660. He married third in Stamford, Judith, widow of William Palmer. Afetr Jeffrey’s death she married John Bowers and died in 1667.888
