Notes for Patience Franklin
Patience and some of her siblings hid from the British and Native Americans who attacked the Wyoming Valley in 1778. Patience wandered the forest for two weeks until she was found and taken care of by her uncle and aunt. It is likely her mother was killed in the battle, and at least two of her brothers were as well. Her husband, William Ferguson, was a fifer in the American Revolution after jumping ship from a British naval vessel in Philadelphia in 1775 and joining the Continental Army.
