Leo Gier was 4f so he couldn't join the service, so he decided since he couldn't serve his county in uniform he would do it another way. Fort Lewis Washington need some building done and my Grandpa Leo went up there and built most of new part of Ft Lewis. My Dad, Claude Gier joined the Marines. "Once a Marine always a Marine." I was raised in boot camp. I joined the Army and both of my spouses have served in the Army. My brother, Larry, was in the Army. My sister Diane joined the Navy and met her husband there who was also Navy. Presently I have a son in the Army in Iraq.
