Virginia House of Burgesses 1761. One of five Gentlemen Justices who presided at the Orange County Court. Named to First Vestry at St. Mark's Parish in 1731. Son of William Green and Eleanor Duff of England, he immigrated as a fifteen year old boy to Virginia in 1710 with his Quaker uncle, William Duff, of Ireland. He bought large tracts of land in Culpeper County and built a large home in the Brandy Station area of Culpeper County, named Liberty Hall. He married Eleanor Dunn of Scotland and had seven sons. They all had red hair and were known as the Red Greens of Culpeper. Many of his sons and grandsons served with the Virginia troops in the French and Indian War. His son, John Green was a Colonel in the Revolution and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Robert was buried with Eleanor in the family plot at Liberty Hall. His land holdings exceeded 40,000 acres when he died.
